| Oxford Hawks hosted the Oxfordshire County Tournament on Sunday, in another scorching day.
The day started with a good win for City, who won 1-0 against Banbury in a tough first game.
Oxford Hawks faced West Witney in their next game, and it was Witney who took the lead with a lovely strike from Joy Mengazi. However Hawks came back and levelled through Ali Omell, and then moments later took the lead when Henri Coles made Witney pay for a defensive error. Good defending from Emma Cragg and Linda Phillips meant Hawks held on for all three points.
In the next game, Hawks faced Banbury and it was a very close affair, with Rachel Spiro in the Hawks goal making some excellent clearances. Hawks took the lead with ten minutes to go, when Helen Smith slammed the ball past the Banbury keeper from a tight angle, and then they held on for another 3 points.
City then played West Witney, and took the lead early on, however five minutes from the end Witney levelled and held on for the draw. West Witney then played Banbury in a game that now meant nothing, and this ended in a draw.
The final match was the deciding match of the tournament, City of Oxford against Oxford Hawks. A draw would have been enough for Hawks, but they almost took the lead after ten minutes when Helen Smith crossed well for Anna Clark, however Clark's effort went narrowly wide. Spiro in the Hawks goal was again kept busy, in an end to end game where tired legs were starting to show, and chances were plenty. Libby Andrews for Hawks had her shot saved well by City's Julia Nichols, but then five minutes from the end, good work by City on the right hand side resulted in a pinpoint cross which was finished well into the roof off the net by City's Kirsty Brammer. City then held on to take the three points and the title, in what was a fitting finale to to good day's hockey.

| OHA Mens Cup - Henley Heroics! | |||
Henley overcame the odds to win the Men's Oxon Cup 2008 for the first time in seven years. In an all day competition played at Bloxham School and Banbury Hockey Club Henley remained unbeaten throughout the day and their performances in defence went a long way in securing the title.
The day started with Banbury, Henley and Abingdon easily over coming Bicester, Wallingford and Witney to put themselves into the cup competition while City of Oxford surprisingly overcame Rover Oxford in a Euro Hockey League style shoot out 3-2 after the game finished 1-1.
The first of the cup competition saw Oxford Hawks play Banbury and many watching throughout that this game would decide the destination of the Oxon Cup and in the end it was Hawks who overcame Banbury 1-0 with a goal from a short corner. Henley easily over came City of Oxford and then they came across Banbury and both goal keepers were in fine form as the game finished 0-0 a result that meant Banbury could not longer win the Cup.
The game that would ultimately decide the title was between Hawks and Henley and it was Henley who dominated the game and deservedly came out 2-0 winners. With one game to go for both Hawks and Henley it was still all to play for but Henley did what they needed to against Abingdon winning 2-0 while Hawks beat City of Oxford 4-0.
Elsewhere in the competition Rover Oxford bounced back from their defeat to local rivals City of Oxford in the knock-out stages to win the Plate competition while the game of the day was arguably Bicester against Witney which saw Bicester win 5-2 and two yellow cards for Witney, including their keeper. Despite an relatively inexperienced and small squad Henley deserved to win the Cup and it will give them a boost going into their South Premier League on the 4th October
